Colorado, like many states in the U.S. has many qualified physicians who perform liposuction operations. Liposuction has become the most popular of all cosmetic operations, and over 500,000 are performed each year in the U.S.

 

 

Surprisingly, liposuction is not just for fat people. In fact the best candidates are people who are in good condition but who have certain parts of their bodies that have deposits of fat that have not responded to regular exercise and dieting. They have firm, elastic skin, and want to essentially sculpt their bodies a bit in one or more areas to attain a better appearance. Also, some men have particularly large breasts and want to have some fat removed there to make their breast area look more normal.

In liposuction operations a doctor will make a small incision near the area of the body that will be treated of about a quarter or a third of an inch. A small tube-like device called a cannula is inserted, and this is moved around either by hand or automatically in some newer devices, and fat cells are broken up and removed. This removal process involves suction through the hollow cannula. Most procedures these days are done by first injecting a liquid which includes a local sedative and other medication to lower bleeding. The fat that is removed is taken from the lower of two fat layers that lie beneath the skin. The lower layer is used because this minimizes damage to the skin done during the procedure.

Any licensed doctor can perform liposuction, so people in Colorado and elsewhere should ask their doctors what kind of specialized training they have received, and how many procedures they have done. This can be accomplished during the initial consultation which is the first step in having the procedure done. Of course a consultation is always necessary because each person and every case is different.

The cost of having a liposuction will depend on how much time the physician is required to spend on your case, and this can vary based on the actual techniques used for the procedure and of course how many sections of your body need fat removal. Prices of a couple of thousand dollars and higher are normal.
